Information Technology Research Challenges for Healthcare: From Discovery to Delivery (Research Paper)

healthcare

The authors chose to start the paper by stating how important wellness and healthcare are to our lives and how important is the role of information technology to them – how it can enhance healthcare and improve life quality. But according to them, the research that is needed to be done to help to make all the trans-formative changes is timely and more and more patients are in need due to illnesses.

In the following paragraphs, the authors emphasized not only on the new possibilities that are opening on how to strengthen the current information technology in healthcare. They mention all the advances in gathering and sharing big amounts of data and ways to analyze and learn from that data. They also mention new kind of tools that need to be  for finding and recording data and make it available to the public.

The next session of the paper is dedicated on the relationship between humans and computers. Systems should never stop evolving and their main offer must  be to be designed to provide support to users. The technology must assist the users in order for them to make great new achievements.

Moving on, it is easily visible that the authors shifted their focus on the complexity of the healthcare. In order to provide effective care and protected privacy, the healthcare systems should be able to work under the diversity of the participants and at the moment we have not yet enabled the systems to do that.

One point the authors stress out a lot is the need for proper research in order to achieve new and better systems. They also try to give the readers an idea of how that can be achieved.

In conclusion, the authors speak of all the opportunities for enhancing wellness and healthcare. Access to all the healthcare data can soon be given to patients and providers and they can access it at any place, at any time. According to the author, exciting times are coming for fundamental research to improve our understanding of sensing and collecting valuable data, analyze and use the information and advance biomedical knowledge among others.

The research paper has been written by many contributing authors. Each and everyone of the must have used their previously gained knowledge to tackle all the relative matters in this paper, but the lack of references at the end does not give the reader an idea about their background research and that is a major disadvantage for their work according to my opinion.
